…while learning to live in mutual love in community, the sisters are in relationship with a world athirst for love.

Hospitality
Hospitality is at the heart of Tymawr and we welcome women and men from many walks of life to spend a day, or even weeks, joining our life of prayer and worship and enjoying the serenity of the beautiful Wye Valley.
Tymawr Convent is home to an Anglican monastic Community. We are a small group of women committed to a simple life of contemplative prayer, living a few miles outside Monmouth, South Wales. Our life is centred on a daily Eucharist, the monastic Offices, and hospitality to guests who come to renew their spiritual life. The convent is situated in 65 acres of gardens, fields and woodlands, which are sustainably managed to enhance the wildlife and flora of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and to produce most of the fruit and vegetables we use. The Forest of Dean, historic Tintern Abbey and the ancient town of Monmouth are a short car journey away.
Tymawr is open to visitors for the daily Offices and Eucharist. Silence shapes the day and the Greater Silence is maintained from after Compline until Morning Prayer.
For 40 weeks each year, including Christmas and Easter, Tymawr is open to day groups and guests. Hospitality is at the heart of this Community and Tymawr extends a warm welcome to all guests. We offer spaces for day retreats and residential retreats, either self-catering or full-board accommodation.
The Community is self-supporting, and we rely on the generosity of guests and friends to maintain our life. It has always been the view of the Community that money should not be a barrier to someone coming to Tymawr, so a Bursary Fund is available for anyone unable to afford the expense. Once a guest has a firm booking, he or she can make an application for a Bursary.
We are working on making all our facilities fully accessible, please let us know if you have special needs.
